Rated 4.5/5 by Nate Wooley, "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is one hell of a game. And it’s scary enough that I’m not going to go break out my Lovecraft books again. Brrrr!"
Rated 7.9/10 by Greg Kasavin, "If you can tolerate a few technical deficiencies and are up for a significant challenge, then you can look forward to Call of Cthulhu mightily impressing you and freaking you out equally in turn".
Rated 7.8/10 by Abdul Alhazred, "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth succeeds brilliantly in some areas. It makes great use of the source material for one. Given the spectacular failures people have had trying to fit these stories into other media, that's no small accomplishment. Headfirst has also lived up to their name by creating a game that forces a player to accept some realistic responsibility for their character. The sanity system and HUD-less display really encourages you to get into Jack's head."
Rated 8/10 by Cameron Morris, "I can't recommend this to everyone, because of its subject matter if nothing else, but if you're the kind of person who doesn't feel repulsed by the idea of sitting in the dark, alone, and taking part in one of the only truly terrifying and most engaging games on the market, you owe it to yourself to at least give this game a try".
Rated 4/5 by Huntress, "Don't expect a thrill-a-minute gore-fest from Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Although the game has it's fair share of gruesome discoveries and gun-toting, pulse-pounding moments these are dealt out in carefully measured portions. Their purpose serves to enhance the story and maintain the underlying sense of dread and menace"
Rated 7.9/10 by Omni, "Call of Cthulhu offers a great (mature) story, some heart-stopping moments, and some great evolution of the first-person shooter genre, even if it does have some warts. This is sure to be one of those cult titles that “serious” gamers will refer to in the coming years as an underappreciated game, much like Alien Hominid or Psychonauts".
Rated 85/100 by Russell Garbutt, "All in all, Call of Cthulhu is an amazing adventure title full of horror and thrills throughout its fantastic story".
Rated 9/10 by Darren Davis, "Definitely a "should-be" on the horror fan's Xmas list!"
Rated 8.3/10 by Greg Kasavin, "This horror-themed action adventure based on the work of influential American horror writer H.P. Lovecraft is clearly ambitious, mixing first-person action, sneaking, and adventure elements with a creepy story filled with various surprises".
Rated 8/10 by Kristan Reed, "It's abundantly clear that Call of Cthulhu will be picking up a great many admirers among the fans of horror adventures - and who knows, maybe a few of you that never quite 'got' the genre too".
