Never officially canonized, but honored as a saint by the Carmelites, Albert was a canon regular, papal legate, and Patriarch of Jerusalem. He was assassinated in 1215, on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Article in the Catholic Encyclopedia.
